Match 4 Review

It was a great weekend for Bacup Cricket Club with all three teams winning their matches.

At Seedhill Nelson elected to bat first but were bowled out in 44 overs for just 105. Lewis Bradley made 32 but he had little support as Bacup's bowlers bowled superbly in a great team effort. Professional Serasinghe led the way with 3 for 23 from 12 overs and Ben Lord continued his excellent form with 3 for 25. Meanwhile, there were also 3 wickets for Aspinall and one for Naylor. Chris Gansler continued to look good behind the stumps taking 3 catches.

Bacup made short work of the reply in making 109 for 1 and winning comprehensively by 9 wickets. Serasinghe led the way in making 59 not out and now has already scored 258 runs in his 4 innings. Newbitt also continued his good start to the season in finishing on 37 not out.

Bacup, along with Colne, have now won their first four league games and are second in the table.

The second eleven made it three wins out of four and are also second in the table after an easy home win against Nelson. Nelson made 101 all out with Donovan taking 4 wickets and George Sumner and Charlie Gansler 2 apiece. Bacup made it home for the loss of just three wickets with Scott Thompson making 22 and Collinge hitting an unbeaten half century.

The Thirds made it a clean sweep with a hard fought victory at Turf Moor against Burnley. Bacup were asked to bat first and in a disappointing performance could only make 134. Dom Boardman held the batting together with an excellent 64 with skipper Jones being the only other player into double figures with 14.

However, it was a much better effort with the ball as Burnley fell 31 runs short in being bowled out for 103. Boardman took 4 for 20 in completing a fine all round performance and Holt was again in the wickets as he took 4 for 10. After winning three of their four games the 3rd eleven are also in second place in the league table.
